Paso Robles is one of the top destinations to visit in California. We stumbled upon the location when planning a road trip from San Francisco to Palms Springs, and since then have been back multiple times and are even club members at many of the wineries.

Out of all of the hotels we have stayed at in Paso Robles, there have been quite a few. The Allegretto Vineyard Resort is hands down our favorite.

We were originally drawn to it because it was dog friendly, and we were traveling with our Golden Retriever at the time. However, this is not your average dog-friendly hotel.

Why You Would NOT Want to Stay at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort

As with any hotel, there are a few cons and reasons why you would not want to stay at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort.

The number one reason being it is not within walking distance to Downtown Paso Robles or any of the wineries. Most of the wineries are spread out through the Paso Robles region, so unless you are going to the tasting rooms downtown, you will need to Uber, drive, or book a tour.

    downtown paso robles at sunset
    Downtown Paso Robles

Allegretto Resort is a short 5-minute drive to all of the action downtown. However, if you want to be able to walk to the restaurants and shops downtown, this is not the resort for you.

It is a popular resort, and you need to book your stay in advance, especially during the high season. The last time we visited Paso Robles, we were not able to stay at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort because they were all booked up for the weekend.

Additionally, Allegretto Resort offers a lot of amazing amenities, but that does come at a higher price point that may not be within everyone’s budget. If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option, you may want to explore other properties in the area.
